306 TRAINEES RESUME AGRICULTURAL TRAINING 3 LFN TRAINING SCHOOLS, UNDERGO ORIENTATION | | |
We are thrilled to announce the admission of 306 trainees across our training schools located in Yaba, Abuja FCT, Ilesha, Osun, and Panda, Kano State. The trainees have embarked on a one-year intensive training program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful careers in agriculture and agribusiness.
The training covers various fields of agribusiness, including crop production and agroforestry, livestock production, agricultural engineering and enterprise development. This approach ensures that they are well-prepared to pursue diverse opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Trainee’s orientation was held across the schools to introduce the trainees to LFN's mission, values, and training objectives. Our partners and stakeholders such as Federal Capital territory Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, (FCTARDS), Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Bank of Industry (BOI), were on site during the orientation, providing valuable insights on agricultural opportunities, entrepreneurship, and personal development.

LFN PARTNERS IJESHA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSEMBLY TO TRAIN 100 YOUTH IN AGRIBUSINESS | | | As part of our initiative to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and driving community development, the Foundation has partnered with the Ijesha Community Development Assembly (ICDA) to train 100 Ijesa youth, both men and women in agribusiness provide agricultural training for youth in Ijesha land, Osun State.
Led by the Chairman of ICDA, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the assembly recognizes agriculture as a transformative tool for creating substantial employment opportunities for young people in communities. This collaboration is set to empower the youth of Ijesha by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to excel in the agricultural sector.
To ensure the success of this initiative, ICDA will actively participate through regular check-ins on the trainees during the course of the program to support the academic and behavioral progress of the participating students. ICDA is also committed to facilitating transition of the graduates into the workforce in collaboration with financial institutions and LFN, with the prospect to provide interest-free loans to enable the young agripreneurs integrate seamlessly into both the Nigerian and global economies. | |
LFN RECOGNIZED FOR SUPPORT FOR BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION THROUGHOUT WEST AFRICA | | |
At the 20th anniversary celebrations of the A.P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI), University of Jos Biological Conservatory, University of Jos, Nigeria in April 2024, LFN received an award from the University of Jos for unwavering support in advancing ornithology and biodiversity conservation in West Africa through the work carried out at APLORI.
According to the University, this recognition is a demonstration of the hard work and dedication of both LFN and APLORI, which highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling environmental challenges and achieving of our shared mission to protect and preserve biodiversity.
APLORI is the foremost institution in West Africa dedicated to the study of birds and building conservation capacity in West Africa. Through comprehensive research, education, and conservation initiatives, APLORI plays a crucial role in preserving the rich and diverse birdlife of West Africa. | |
LFN PARTICIPATES AT THE OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS’ SKILL ACQUISITION AND ENTREPRENUERSHIP DEPARTMENT (NYSC-SAED) ANNUAL STAKEHOLDERS MEETING | | |
In strengthening the LFN-NYSC collaboration, LFN provided insights on ways to enhance the benefit of partnership during the NYSC-SAED Annual Stakeholders meeting in April 2024. The meeting addressed various objectives including reviewing program performance reports of the previous year and proffer practical solutions, as well as elicit ideas that can enhance the quality of corps members after the service year, particularly in the area of entrepreneurship/skill acquisition. . LFN’s Technical and Training General Manager, Dr Felix Obinyan reiterated the 2021 LFN-NYSC SAED memorandum that facilitated the participation of select corps members in LFN’s one-year agribusiness skill acquisition program across four LFN training schools, as part of their mandatory one-year youth service.
To further enhance the benefit of the partnership and achieve it goals, LFN submitted that provision of start-up funds for trained corps members is necessary to ensure the establishment of an enterprise, while also reviewing the selection process of corps members participating in the program and strengthening the entrepreneurship mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation team of the NYSC SAED program is paramount. | | LFN BOARD CHAIRMAN, AHMED MANTEY, MARKS 70TH BIRTHDAY | | | With hearty cheers, we celebrated Mr. Ahmed Mantey, LFN’s chairman of board as he marked 70 year in March, 2024.
